Tempest Rising Accidentally Released Early on Steam – Devs Decide to Roll With It!

Post by JauntyM »

Hey everyone,

In a surprising (and kinda refreshing) turn of events, Tempest Rising dropped on Steam a full week ahead of its scheduled release — and instead of scrambling to pull it back, the publisher has decided to just roll with the chaos and keep the game live.

No official announcement was made right away, but players quickly noticed the game was up and fully playable. What was initially suspected to be a mistake turned out to be just that — an accidental early launch. But instead of issuing a takedown or reverting access, the devs leaned into the momentum and confirmed they're keeping it up.

Honestly, this move feels pretty bold and player-friendly. In an industry where delays and sudden takedowns are the norm, it's kind of cool to see a team just say "welp, it’s out now — enjoy!"

Players are already sharing early impressions, and feedback so far seems mostly positive. Some are calling it a throwback to classic RTS vibes, with a solid blend of old-school mechanics and modern polish. Of course, it's not perfect — a few bugs and missing polish here and there — but nothing unexpected for a game that wasn’t even supposed to be live yet.

Curious to hear what you all think:

Have you tried it yet?

Do you think this was a good call by the publisher?

Could this set a precedent for other studios when accidental launches happen?

Let’s discuss 👇
