We've all encountered those pesky bugs in games that either frustrate us or provide some unintended hilarity. For one Helldivers 2 player, an encounter with an infinite gas bug resulted in an extreme and rather humorous effluvial experience. While battling the Terminid scourge, the player found themselves in a situation that ultimately led to their untimely demise.
The player, known by their Reddit handle UnexpectedRoundHouse, shared a video on the Helldivers subreddit showcasing the unfortunate incident. During a 'Launch ICBM' mission, RoundHouse deployed an 'Orbital Gas Strike' stratagem on a bug breach. Typically, this stratagem would drop a single shell of toxic green gas onto the target, suffocating enemies with a deadly miasma. However, due to a mysterious bug, the orbiting dropship's cannons went haywire, unleashing an endless torrent of gas shells.
The sight is both absurd and fascinating. The continuous barrage of gas shells caused the game camera to shake violently as Cadet RoundHouse approached. The noise of the strike was equally intense, reminiscent of someone with unending gas. Reddit user Bearfoxman aptly commented, "That's about the sound I was expecting from someone with unending gas."
Unfortunately, this bout of stratospheric flatulence ended poorly for RoundHouse. Unlike in real life, where one might pop a couple of Imodium capsules, there was no way to stop the relentless flow of gas shells. RoundHouse's attempt to march underneath the ceaseless barrage resulted in their character being gassed to death.
Helldivers 2 is no stranger to bizarre situations, although they usually stem from the game's intricate systems rather than bugs like this one. In another recent incident, a player accidentally killed a Bile Titan by flinging the corpse of a Charger Terminid into it, leading to similarly messy and fluid results.
Such experiences remind us of the unpredictable nature of gaming and the occasional hilarity that ensues from unexpected bugs. While this infinite gas bug in Helldivers 2 provided a fatal challenge for UnexpectedRoundHouse, it also gave the community a good laugh and a memorable story.
