Resident Evil 4 Remake Surpasses 6.5 Million Sales Milestone, Gold Edition Unveiled

In a resounding success for Capcom, the Resident Evil 4 remake has exceeded expectations, with sales now standing at an impressive 6.48 million units since its launch in March 2023. The beloved 2005 survival horror classic has captivated fans old and new, quickly becoming one of the best-selling titles in the franchise.

Capcom's recent financial report reveals that the game achieved remarkable sales growth, with 3 million copies sold within the first two days of its launch. The cumulative sales figure of 6.48 million units, reported over the first nine months of the current financial year, reflects an additional million copies sold from October to December 2023. This success has contributed to Capcom's overall healthy net sales growth compared to the previous financial year.

To commemorate the achievement, Capcom has announced the release of a comprehensive Gold Edition of Resident Evil 4, set to launch on February 9, 2024. This special edition will include both the Separate Ways story DLC and the Extra DLC Pack, offering fans an enriched gaming experience.

The Extra DLC Pack, originally part of the Deluxe Edition, encompasses a variety of content, including cosmetics, costumes, music, and weapons. The inclusion of these additional features aims to enhance the overall gameplay and provide fans with more options to customize their Resident Evil 4 experience.

While the Resident Evil 4 remake has not been without its critics, particularly regarding aspects lost in the transition, reviewers have generally lauded the game's improvements. Rich Stanton, in PC Gamer's review, highlighted that the remake preserves the essence of Resident Evil 4's iconic fights, making them even more immersive and enjoyable.

One standout feature that received widespread praise is the knife parry, which Ted Litchfield described as the "best thing to happen to the series in 18 years." The Gold Edition's release coincides with positive reviews and player feedback, indicating a continued strong reception for the game.

PC Gamer writers also commended the Separate Ways DLC, noting its successful expansion of the original 2005 content. Kerry Brunskill, in particular, expressed delight in the DLC's snappy gunplay and emphasized the noticeable emphasis on silent sneaky kills, enhancing the overall gameplay experience.

As the Resident Evil 4 remake continues to captivate audiences worldwide, the launch of the Gold Edition is expected to further invigorate interest and provide fans with an even more immersive and comprehensive journey through this iconic survival horror adventure.
