While we think about cross play we do think about the prospect that more and more players can come together to play the same game that they love. They don't really have to buy the game on different platforms just to meet and greet with their friends. The idea on paper is so good. But there are certain problems that come up with such propositions as well.
Mainly the fact that PC players can actually use mods and hacks to gain extra advantage in the game that console players can't even think about doing with their machines. Console players also have a huge disadvantage competing with PC players when they have to deal with the precision of mouse and keyboard as compared to the controllers.
There are a lot of videos being posted on the daily basis on various platforms showing people using cheats and mods to control the outcome of the games especially in games like Call of Duty
I personally think that if multiplayer really needs to stay alive it should be done only between consoles to consoles not with PC and consoles combined. That could just give the players a level playing field while playing the game and not worrying about hackers and modders in the game.
