Netflix starting with Baby Steps into Gaming Industry

Netflix has been planning to get into the gaming scene with an online gaming experience for some time now. But they are not going to launch a full scale model of a online streaming gaming service yet.

On an investor call the management of the company declared that they will start with small scale games for mobile gaming first, experiment with it, see the response and then go from there.

Netflix has always had the concern that gaming is taking screen time away from video platforms where users instead of watching long seasons would simply go ahead and spend their leisure time into gaming. This is quite true for me as well as I normally do not subscribe to Netflix because most of the free time I have it goes into gaming and making online videos for my YouTube Channel www.youtube.com/c/JauntyM.

According to a Deloitte survey, Generation Z ranked playing videogames as their favorite entertainment activity—way above music, social media and television. (source: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/newsletters/2021-07-28/how-netflix-could-go-big-in-gaming)

While Netflix is taking baby steps into gaming, the industry overall is moving quite rapidly. Netflix might fall behind in the race if they do not properly pace their first and the next steps. Netflix could easily go ahead and buy big gaming studios to jump start their progress into gaming being a $230 billion market cap giant that it is.

Lets see in the upcoming months and years how Netflix would progress in their gaming venture.
